DETERMINATION of CRITICAL FREQUENCY

What does this mean? Critical Frequency?

Critical frequency is the natural frequency of an object.

When applied to screening, critical frequency evidences itself by one or more of the screen boxes components vibrating at different stroke and FREQUENCY from the rest of the screen.

In other words............the vibrating of one or more of the components attached to the screenbox is NOT ............NOT IN UNISON with the screen. (Some part is loosened up and vibrating OUT OF SYNC with the rest of the screenbox body).

NOT A GOOD THING...........

Another type of critical frequency experienced with screens is that of the SPRING MASS SYSTEM. Critical frequency can be both detrimental to screen performance and reduce the expected life of the vibrating screen components and in the case of spring/mass critical frequency can cause EXCESSIVE START/STOP BOUNCE.

Determination of critical frequency can be achieved either empirically or theoretically. Emprical determination is easier and more commonly used approach.
