Dedusting Screens

Posted on 22. Jul. 2004 - 10:24

Dedusting is normally an easy and economical operation when conducted within practical limits - provided that the fines or degradation to be removed are not near in size to the bulk of the feed.

It is necessary to choose a screen mesh with a sufficiently large aperture to permit the quick discharge of small fines, but not resize the product.

Otherwise normal selection methods and guidelines can be used

Hello Sepp Pesl,

Yes, there are guidelines and norms for selecting volume of air flow for de-dusting purpose. For example, so much volume of air per mm / inch width of belt, so much volume of air per sq. m of screening area, and so on. I have come across such norms, however, presently I do not remember to mention it.

Such norms will be with respect to particular industry such as coal mines, power stations, cement plants, etc. The magnitude of air flow will also depend upon class of application whether one is dealing with very fine and dusty material or material with less dust etc.

I suggest you to refer to the manufacturers of dust control equipment (de-dusting or dust extraction equipment). They can provide the relevant information. Such information is routinely used in formulating the requirements.
