Is there any other utility other than brush pulley?

Dear all,

I have understood that brush pulley can be operated ( with V belts and cross loop arrangement ) for conveyor cleaning purpose. Another advantage here is, it will be stopped as soon as the main conveyor is stopped.

My question is is there any other utilities available / have you come across ( Beater pulley may be another example !), which can be operated or used when the conveyor is in motion?

A beater pulley is typically mounted at the tail pulley end, the tail pulley frame typically has a plow to push material off the belt-the inside top side of the bottom side coming into the tail pulley.

Head pulleies have scrapers consisting of a plastic scraper board pushing up against the belt going around the head pulley after it discharges material at the transfer point.

The plastic scraper is the width of the conveyor belt and typically it has two counter weight arms holding it in place against the belt.

Some belt cleaners have stiff steel teeth scraping the material off the belt at the head pulley held in place with counterweight arms as well. Another example is the "Bear Whip" it has individual scrapers held in place with individual spring tension arms.

The other problem is how well are you able to dispose of the material cleaned off the belt? can you shovel it out of the way to scoop it up at a later date?

Is There Any Other Rotary Utilities Available?

Brush pulley with cross loop V belt arrangement, beater pulley are the examples which are operated by the running conveyor with out any other drive.

Is there any other rotary utilities available, which are operated by the motion of the conveyor?

Are you seeking devices which require motive drive of some description or are you open to any "suitable" belt cleaning devices? If so, suggest you solicit you local suppliers.

I am sure that they would advise you they could supply something for your situation.

Lyle

The examples I have given consume a very fraction of the conveyor power. i.e., when the conveyor is in operation we could achieve some other operation also, as I mentioned.

They are running with conveyor with out any other separate drive.

My query is not particularly belongs to cleaning of conveyor.

It can be of any other function.

I am looking for any other creative ideas.

Regarding a beater pulley. Well not a pulley but a very simple beater idler can be installed after the head pulley either before the first return idler or as the first return idler. Very simple design with rebar welded to a standard steel idler or some manufature a cage style beater idler.

A beater puts forced vibrations into the structure so any inclusion of a beater must be sanctioned by the structural engineer. If you retrofit a beater and something shakes loose then you cannot blame the structures man for a faulty dynamic modal analysis.

A simple beater idler would not create forces great enough to disrupt the structural intecrity of the belt, much less the conveyor structure. Very common in US.

Have you ever quantified the forces and referred the situation to a structural engineer?
