Fly Ash Conveying By Belt Conveyor
We have successfully used " PNEUMATIC GRAVITY CONVEYOR " for conveying fly ash . Is it layout permits installtion of PNEUMATIC GRAVITY CONVEYOR " instead of belt conveyor .
What is the speed of belt conveyor . For any fine dust conveying , when we use belt conveyor the speed of belt conveyor should not be more than 0.5 m per sec .
Whether feed point and discharge point of belt conveyor are vented to a bag filter
If you send sketch showing your belt conveyor profile will help us in studying the problem in deep .

Fly Ash
Hi,
The shiploader belt is 1800mm wide, 45o trough, 2.2m/sec speed..lenght is 56m and telescopes out another 25m to suit the radial position. Loading angle is +/- 5o.
We load clinker 2200tph, fly ash 800tph, cement 1000tph, gypsum 400tph and limestone 400tph....ie 5 different products.
Dust collection is fitted at both ends, curved chutes as used to control fine products.
I am aware of fluidors, to use this would require some modification to the loader when we should be looking at the existing equipment first.

Air Knife Vacuum
James,
We had used what we call an air knife vacuum on Alumina in a carry back situation similar to the one you describe. The belt was desiccated and cracked. We are currently working on a modification which will further improve its performance through the use of an electrical charge opposite to the materials charge.
Also when next purchasing a belt for this application investigate the options available wrt heat and conductivity.

Fly Ash Handling And Spillage
Gents,
We export fly ash via belt conveyors on a radial shiploader whihc has had some mods to try and control the fugive emissions of various types when loading fly ash.
We have tried...
Soft primary scrapers
Hard and soft secondary scrapers
Rotary brushes
Air knives - low and high pressure.
Squeege lagged idlers with drag chains.
Flyash has tends to be statically charged and sticks to the belt.
We are thinking of using very smooth, low static belt and also are looking for static charge rods.
We have yet to try the use of the dust collection system to vacuum the dust off the belt.
The condition of the belt - splice and surface condtion - heat cracking and other equipment is critical to "good" environmental performance.
My question is along benchmarking or best practise.
Have any readers had reliable and robust success with conveying fly ash...I am keen to tap into any other learnings/experiences.
