Dynamic Conveyor Loading

I am wondering what the normal live dynamic load allowance/factor is above the actual material load for conveyors specifically in relation to structural calculations for elevated trusses. The conveyors I am looking at operate at 150 to 170 tph with a 1400mm belt width at 2m/s. The conveyor travels through trusses with a walkway on one side. The material is crushed organic material such as wood chips.

If I understand your question, the live dynamic load is the vibration induced forces into the structure, then you need to know the following as a minimum:

1. belt bending stiffness oriented with covers up and down, . mass, and thickness

2. idler mass, diameter

3. idler frame and its other supports contributions to bending stiffness

4. material load contribution to belt bending stiffness

5. sympathetic structural natural frequencies that may couple with belt and idler frequencies

This is probably not conclusive, but a start at what you need to know.

Also consider the acceleration of the fully laden conveyor at start up; especialy if your drive is trestle mounted.
