Have used a shaft mounted geared motor before.
as with all things, you just have to do your calculations correctly ■
Diverting Valve Actuation

The only problems with using a geared motor for actuating a two way valve is that if it is shaft mounted it has only a portion of a revolution to travel before coming to rest, so it tends to be very short term use for a device that is normally operated continuously and it exhibits constant torque. Leverage can be added by employing a crank mechanism to ensure firm closure at the limits of travel and utilise a single direction of rotation, with a push button for changing and limit or proximity switches for stopping. ■
Diverter Gate Drive
Dears,
I would like to use:
Helical-worm gear unit with AC Squirrel-cage motor-shaft mounted with shrink disk drive
for
rotating damper of a simple diverter gate (two-way chute).
but
as I have searched I have found that only linear actuators(electrical or pneumatical) used as drives of diveter gates.
is there anyone have experiment using this drive(shaft mounted gearbox) for diverter gate?
does it have any problem which we can not use it for this purpose?
any idea? ■
