Re: Belt Splice Comparison
Is PN1200/6 is fabric belt having 6 plies? What is PN?
If yes, I find fabric belts splicing is easier compared to steelcord belts. ■

Re: Belt Splice Comparison
Steel Cord & Fabric are two totally different constructions. I would submit that Fabric is easier to "stuff up". Fabric splices need more skill and attention to detail than steel cord splices therefore it must be considered the more difficult ■
Re: Belt Splice Comparison
Hi Gareth,
We possibly need to determine what "harder" means, or why they assume it is harder to do one as opposed to the other. Both require different types of expertise and methodology, and it would probably be inaccurate to say which is harder as the comparisons are not "apples" vs "apples".
ST belts generally require greater time preparation due to the cable cleaning and laying, splice plan etc. Perhaps more labour intensive as each cable needs to be cleaned bare (depending on No. of cables, pitch etc)
Fabric in comparison needs to be stripped out per ply (a 6 ply would also take some time), buffed, laid etc. There is more risk of nicking the fabric when stripping out the steps too.
It would be fair to assume that a splice team able to both types would say an ST splice would be more labour intensive as opposed to harder.
A common denominator to both of them is the quality of workmanship and accuracy of splice plan execution.
Hope this helps.

Belt Splice Comparison
Dear all,
My client belives a ST1000 belt is harder to splice than a PN1200/6.
Is this correct any comments.
