What is the latest on belt rip detection using the embedded loops or mesh ? Are they reliable ? Do they often give false alarms ? Are there sometimes belt problems (e.g. delamination) where the loops are inserted in the belt ? Are they cost effective ? Are the 'paino wire' type rip detectors just as effective ?

I recall quite a few users who had the loops in the belts - but abandoned using the detection system - but I can't recall why ?

I would love to hear from people with experience in using these. Need to make a decision in the next week whether to buy the belt with or without them in 20km or so of belt. ■
