Dear Anyone,

I'm doing a project on a conveyor system. Just wondering is there anyway to compute the min. Drive and Tail Pulley Diameter with following given data:

a. Belt width

b. conveyor length

c. conveyor speed

d. Motor rating

Thanks

Greetings from the soon to be frozen "Eastern Wilderness" at 1140 feet above mean sea level.

All the manufacturers have done this work and the belt manufacturers list in their collective literature the diameter of pulley that their products will work with-besides the fact that

any belt will have only a certain amount of flexibilty-get thy self to a master slitter of conveyor belt if you wish to learn more about this and the related equipment

Hello Synchroni,

To decide pulley diameter you have to design the conveyor. In a very simplistic statement, first one has to find out tractive pull, belt tensions, suitable belt, and then one can decide pulley diameter to suit the belt. There is no short cut.

If you are deciding pulley diameter in a very rough (approximate) manner, it is one thing, but if you want to decide it in a proper manner, it is altogether different thing, requiring good knowledge about the various components of the conveyor and conveyor design.
