Who knows bunk truck

Posted in: , on 15. Mar. 2006 - 16:19

I am now designing unloading PE from bunk truck to 20 meters away.

As the distance is very short I would like to use a small roots pump (~300NM^3/Min, 0.8Bar) to make the dense phase.

So far I only have the following data:

1. diameter of delivery port: 4"

2. Diameter of air supply port: 4"

3. Designed unloading capacity: 28T/h

may I succeed?

Sorry 300M^3/Hr

Is it possible to convey 28T/h with a 4" pipe 20 meters with dense phase?

Please it is urgent!

Most tankers I have driven are designed & work at 2 barg (ASME8).

They unloaded 28t in 30 minutes, plus hose connection times. Unloading rate largely depends on the silo height.

Thanks,

Yes the owner of bunk truck told me they need 2 bar air supply 20NM^3/min. I am sure 2 bar is used for unloading to silo top.

What I need is conveying to horizontal 10 meter ~ 20 meter away. 2 bar is too much for this.

Can you Email me the structure drawing of your bunk truck?

2 barg is max. tanker pressure, material can be off loaded at lower pressures. 1barg should be sufficient to achieve your target rates. 20 Nm^3/min is too high for 4” line, Normal tankers I have come across are of 400-900m3/hr range. You will only need 400-500 m^3/hr for PE. Avoid using excessive air it causes more problems!!!

Thank you mantoo,

1 more question

Is 1 bar only used for pushing pellet out from truck tank?

and another 1 bar for dense phase conveying?

So if I use just a roots blower (400NM3/h@0.8Bar) it has not enough force to push them out and will cause lower unloading ratio isn't it?

In normal tanker off loading the tanker is pressurised to the required pressure then the outlet valve is opened the bypass valve is adjusted manually to maintain the pressure in the tanker.

Yes you can offload at 800 mbarg with lower solid loaidngs.

Dear Mantoo,

Can you give me an idea how much the offloading ratio will be in this case based on your experience?

SLR achieved is greatly dependent on tanker type and product properties. So I can only give a very rough guess. For 400m3/hr of air, off loading at 28tph SLR is almost 60, with 20m horizontal distances no bends it will be at the limit.

Thank you Mantoo!

Is SLR "Silo Loading Ratio"? Does "60" mean Solid gas ratio?

SLR is solids loading ratio, of course , it means solid/gas rate.
