Re: Bed Ash Conveying System

Bed ash can vary greatly in particle characteristics such as size, shape, density and temperature depending on the fuel being burned and the type of boiler process.

There is certainly not one rule which can be applied to all bed ash materials.

If you can give more detailed specifics, we'd be happy to offer you some assistance in the proper design and system / hardware selection.

Bed ash is generally very granular, with a wide size distribution, and so it can only be conveyed in dilute phase suspension flow in a conventional conveying system. It can be highly abrasive, depending on the raw material, and so the pipeline and bends will have to be designed and specified for this.

As Jack says, the conveying characteristics of bed ash will vary with the grade and source of the material. I have pneumatic conveying data on bed ash in my various books but it can provide no more than a guide for you.
