Re: Pipe Conveyor For Handling 300 Mm Lumps
Greater than 300 mm. Such a waste. So much for so little.
We nned to ask, why 300 mm lump on 200 t/h with a pipe conveyor?
Much more needs to be offered to consider this as more than a waste of time. ■
Re: Pipe Conveyor For Handling 300 Mm Lumps
To be safe you would need a 400 mm diameter pipe. ■
Minimum Size
Conventional wisdom applied to Pipe Conveyors says that the pipe diameter should be 2.5 to 3 times larger than the maximum lump size depending on size distribution and lump shape. The cost for such small capacity would be quite high.
This is not a proper application for a pipe conveyor, unless lump size can be reduced before transport or there is no other alternative.

Re: Pipe Conveyor For Handling 300 Mm Lumps
Sergio,
You fail to consider the amount of product being transported.
With 200 t/h, the 300 mm lump would only need only about 4 lumps per second. At .200 m and 4 per second = 0.8 m/sbelt speed, if it were all lumps. Clearly, if we transport any less than all lump and run at about 2 m/s we would be safe with 400 mm pipe diameter. There is still be room to have some fines in the mix. ■
Re: Pipe Conveyor For Handling 300 Mm Lumps
Still in fog, the speed needs correction to .3 m dia. x 4 lumps/sec = 1.2 m/s. Thus, 2 m/s is still OK. ■
Re: Pipe Conveyor For Handling 300 Mm Lumps
Larry,
I quoted standard practice. One can customize the design as you are doing, but I think that we agree that this might not be the best application for a pipe conveyor. Hard to say with the limited information available.

Re: Pipe Conveyor For Handling 300 Mm Lumps
Dear Mr Banerjee
Regarding the handling of large lumps in pipe conveyors it is a matter of pipe fill and frequency of the large lump.
i.e. if the pipe is 75% full a lump 1/3rd the pipe dia is ok if the fill is 44% then a lump 2/3rds pipe dia is acceptable.
so for dia 400mm with 300mm lump the fill would have to be low and the size distribution controlled.
It is better to size the coal on this case. (twin roll sizer just for size reduction). ■
Pipe Conveyor for Handling 300 mm Lumps
Dear Sirs,
I want to handle coal having 300 mm lump size. Capacity is 200 tph. What should be the diameter of Pipe. Can I go based on lump size or for 300 mm lump size is not suitable for pipe conveyor application?
Please reply me.
Regards.
