Tap Density Analyzer Features Anti-Tampering Lockout

Boynton Beach, Florida, February, 2006.

Quantachrome Instruments announces that their Autotap analyzer for tap density of powders is available with a keyed lock to prevent unauthorized changes to the proper number of taps to ensure conformance to SOP's. Tap (or tapped) density of powders is a staple measurement of almost all industries handling and processing powders (e.g. food, pharmaceutical, catalyst, powder metals, pigments, bulk powder handlers etc).

The ultimate packed density of powders depends on the total number of taps and the most rigorous applications, such as those found in the pharmaceutical industry, require that the same number of taps be used for each and every analysis.

With the lock-out feature, the appropriate number of taps determined during development and validation of a standard operating procedure (SOP), can be programmed by an authorized manager and fixed to prevent unauthorized changes. No more continued analyzing until in specification - a practice much frowned upon. Set it and forget it.

Autotap Tap Density Analyzers

Quantachrome's Autotap analyzer is avilable in two versions, one-sample and two-sample, both featuring a 3mm (1/8in) drop height which conforms to USP and BP methods, and ASTM tests. The Autotap is available in 110 and 220V versions, and is supplied with graduated cylinders. Unique adapter cylinder platforms can accommodate a variety of cylinder sizes, from 10 mL to over 500mL.

Quantachrome Instruments, founded in 1968, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of analytical instrumentation for characterizing properties of powders and porous materials. Dedicated to providing the highest quality scientific instrumentation, Quantachrome has more than
