PRIMS System Performs in the Tea Industry

High Country KombuCha Tea selected the PRIMS system to perform their scaling and batch and ingredient lot tracking to become compliant with the FDA Bioterrorism Act. “The PRIMS system was easy to setup and use” said Ed Rothbauer. “We started with just the scaling system and we’re ready to migrate it to the entire operation. BIT Corp., the company that sold it to us was very responsive to any modifications we requested. We are performing the batching, inventory and shipping with the PRIMS system.”

About KombuCha Tea: It's been called everything from wonder drink to ancient cure-all. But chances are most people have never heard of it. Eagle Valley residents Steve Dickman and Ed Rothbauer want to change all that.

The first recorded use of KombuCha comes from China in 223 B.C., during the Tsin Dynasty. It was known to them as "The Tea of Immortality." The brew got its name years later when a physician named Komba treated Japanese Emperor Inyko with the "cha," meaning tea. Hence: KombuCha. "It was used for everything originally," said Rothbauer. "People in Northern Manchuria would use it on a day-to-day basis for nutritional vitality."

The two opened a business on Third and Broadway (at the little-yellow house) in Eagle called High Country KombuCha. There, they brew an elixir unlike anything else on the market. It's called KombuCha (calm-BOO-cha) tea, and it has purportedly helped heal people of a variety of ailments throughout history. They are growing so fast they are moving into a large manufacturing facility and are purchasing quite a lot of new automated equipment. The PRIMS system is going to be expanded to cover the expansion and has all the capabilities they will need into the future.

High Country KombuCha has a wholesale distribution license for their product. You can't buy it from their shop on Third Street, but there are a number of area stores that carry the tea. It is available at Freshies Market in Edwards, the Avon Bakery and Deli, Nature's Providers, Studio Maha and Aria Spa at the Cascade Hotel.
