At the 2004 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition (November, 7-11 2004; Baltimore, US), Freeman Technology will launch the first in a new range of accessories to automate the company’s FT4 powder rheometer. The automated aeration accessory, for use in measuring the flow properties of aerated powders, will eliminate the need for operator intervention thus removing the major source of measurement variation and error. It is the first in a series of new ‘plug and play’ accessories designed to bring full automation to all FT4 powder testing processes.
This important new advance has been made possible by the recent development at Freeman of a highly sophisticated universal control card. This provides a seamless interface between the instrument, the accessory and the user. Existing and new users of the patented FT4 Powder Rheometer will be able to add a range of accessories that streamline powder assessment, bringing ever closer Freeman’s goal of providing the pharmaceutical market with a universal powder testing solution.
The FT4 is widely used within the pharmaceutical industry, and has applications that range from the quality control of incoming raw materials through formulation, including the determination of granulation end-point and scale-up.
Throughout the AAPS conference, the Freeman Technology team will be available on Booth 495 to advise on automating powder testing using the FT4 Powder Rheometer.
Freeman Technology has pioneered the development of instruments that measure and classify the flow properties of powders. The company is based near Malvern in Worcestershire, UK. The FT Powder Rheometers closely meet the needs of powder users and processors – helping to solve problems of powder flow in order to aid formulation of new materials, optimize handling and processing, or provide quality control standards, for example.
