The MagnaShear Electric Brake has proven itself dependable and reliable in hundreds of applications including mining conveyors and winches, concrete block manufacturing and cranes.
No ordinary brake, the MagnaShear Electric Brake uses proprietary oil-shear technology perfected over more than 30 years by Force Control Industries. It transmits torque through the shearing action of automatic transmission fluid between multiple friction discs and drive plates. The fluid protects the friction material, and absorbs the heat of engagement dissipating it through the housing. The re-circulating fluid minimizes wear, resulting in exceptional service life, up to 10 times longer than conventional dry brakes.

The MagnaShear spring set oil shear brakes offer quick, quiet, smooth, consistent stopping without constant adjustment. So reliable, they are used on some of the most critical conveyors, trippers, and crane applications in mines, bulk material processing, and other applications.
Simplified Mounting System:
The “Quick Mount” MagnaShear™ C-Face mount adds a new level of convenience. This “Quick Mount” design means just that, quick and easy mounting to your drive motor. It comes ready to install. It does not require any disassembly of the brake for installation.
Optional Brake Release Switch:
New Internal Brake Release Indicator Switch provides feedback to control system indicating the brake is released.
Optional Encoder:
MagnaShear brakes are now designed for an optional encoder on the back of the brake eliminating troublesome “sandwich” encoders which mount between brake and motor.
Optional Encoder is now available on MSB 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12 brakes.
Lower Cost:
