Track-mobile crushers moving fast into Russia

It’s been only a few years since the first track-mounted crushing and screening plants entered the Russian market but now they are all over. Today, there is a lot of money in the country due to the booming economy and due to the need to build the new infrastructure and rebuild the old one. Mobile plants are used in all major applications, in quarrying, contract crushing, and in recycling.

One of the many companies that have aggressively taken advantage of the situation is Fintec who now work in tandem with Extec. Both companies belong to Sandvik Mining and Construction, one of the biggest global suppliers of equipment. “In less than three years we have sold over 20 Fintec units to various parts of the country,” tells Mr Gleb Svirid, Supply Manager of Kraft Invest Group, which is one of the Fintec dealers in Russia.

A good example of the distances in Russia is that some of the machines work in the West, like in Karelia near the border to Finland and some are located in Nakhodka near Vladivostok in the Far East of the country. The distance between them is approximately 8,000 km.

A couple of recent cases clarify partly the scope of how Fintec gear is being exploited in various applications.

Road construction goes ahead in Murmansk

Infrastructure development is essential all over Russia and with the present boom in the country’s economy, lots of investments have been made to fulfil the related needs. In the Murmansk region in the Kola peninsula in the northwest of Russia a local state-owned company has invested in Fintec equipment to expand gravel production for the region’s road construction projects.

“The federal specifications of the cubical shape of gravel used in road works are tight and we had to figure out how we could meet them better,” explains Mr Vladimir Abdrakhmanov, Director of Nikel Road Repair and Building Company.

“In 2006 we started to look around for new equipment that could combine capacity, quality and price but also a further critical requirement, namely a reliable partner. We found them all in the company Kraft Invest Group and in the Fintec machinery they represent,” Mr Abdrakhmanov adds.

Consequently, in May 2006 Nikel purchased two Fintec machines, the Fintec 1107 jaw plant and the Fintec 542 screening plant. Later on the need for the 5 to 20 mm size material increased and since the capacity at that time was not enough, Nikel purchased in December 2007 another Fintec machine, namely the Fintec 1080 cone plant.

Nikel has found the machines reliable and robust to work in the harsh weather conditions in their quarry that is located well north of the Arctic Circle.

Fintec In Russia

Sandvik background helps selling Fintec

Company background and references are often critical when customers are making their purchasing decisions. This was also proved when a Yekaterinburg based company located in the Ural region decided to go into mobile crushing and screening. The company, Mezh Region Invest Holding Company already had a large fleet of Sandvik equipment. After analysing the supply of mobile equipment, they decided to choose Fintec machines due to their good experience with Sandvik.

“In the first round, when we needed to upgrade our quarrying equipment, we contacted Sandvik who proposed a full-scale laboratory analysis in Sandvik’s test laboratory in Svedala, Sweden, so all sorts of rocks were transported to Sweden. The conclusion was that we really needed more powerful crushing equipment,” describes Mr Kirill Dobyshev, Commercial Director of Mezh Region Invest, the first contact with Sandvik.

Consequently, the company started to buy from Sandvik. Now they have a lot of Sandvik stationary equipment including jaw, cone and impact crushers, two breakers, several feeders and many screens and conveyors. The equipment is scheduled for delivery in August 2008.

The company also needed new equipment in another quarry but here they decided to use mobile crushing and screening plants. After evaluation of the existing mobile machine offering, the company placed an order for Fintec. In 2007, Kraft Invest Group (KIG), the Fintec dealer, supplied three units to Mezh Region Invest Holding Company. They were a Fintec 1080 with jaw crusher, a Fintec 1107 with cone crusher and a Fintec 542 screening unit. They were supplied in May 2008 for producing sand and gravel products for road building. The customer is now also the local KIG representative with a possibility to start a rental service in the area, too.

Kraft Invest Group (KIG) has represented Fintec since 2006. KIG is a 16 years old company that is heavily involved in equipment business. In addition to crushing and screening equipment they also represent many other internationally known brand names in road construction, concrete, earthmoving, harvesting and lifting, among other things. KIG headquarters are located in St. Petersburg and supported by eight branch offices in various parts of the country, naturally including Moscow.
