Guide on how to manage compliance to REACH within your company
Presented by the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology
28 February 2012; £420 per delegate;
Venue: University of Greenwich, Medway campus, Kent
REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals. It came into force on 1st June 2007 and replaced a number of European Directives and Regulations with a single system. Chemicals must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency to continue to be used or made in Europe.
The objective of the course is to ensure you are aware of your responsibilities and to help you prepare a plan of action for your workplace. If your materials are not registered or not exempt, you will not be able to import or export your goods in the EU.
The course will give an overview of the possible requirements for a site. It will explore the responsibilities a site may have for its raw materials and products and show how to get started on a REACH review. It will also look at compliance with vendor usage instructions with a focus on powder containment, including very high risk materials.
Topics covered include:
•What rules apply to importing materials into the EU and products made in the EU
•How do we make sure we can still buy or import all of our raw materials?
•What about our products? Will we have to register them? What is an article?
•What is exempted? What are partial exemptions?
•What about new products?
The target audience is the powdered chemicals industries, including pharmaceuticals, minerals and food:
•Managers responsible for business risk
•Raw materials purchasers and/or importers
•Health & safety professionals
•Project managers and project engineers
•Manufacturing managers, supervisors and safety representatives
•Marketing/Sales technical support
