Powder Handling and Characterisation courses in March
Presented by the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, at their Short Course Centre at the University of Greenwich, Kent.
20 March 2012:
Segregation, Degradation and Caking
A comprehensive introduction to give a basic understanding of powder handling, before moving on to the more specific detail, covering individual problem situations where applicable.
Topics discussed include:
Maintaining and improving product quality
Correct design of equipment to minimise segregation
Handling and storage of materials to reduce degradation issues
Approaches to minimise caking of material
21 – 22 March 2012:
Practical Powder Characterisation for Industry
This new course has been designed to give delegates an overview of various methods of measuring the behavioural properties of powders and includes an optional practical session in our laboratories.
Techniques discussed include:
• Particle size measurement (manual and automated)
• Density (solid and bulk)
• Flow property measurements
• Moisture mechanics
• Segregation, degradation and caking
• Explosability
• Pneumatic conveying properties
• Dustiness
For each technique covered the presenters will:
• Introduce relevance to real-world handling scenarios
• Show how technique works and demonstrate if appropriate
These 2 courses are being held back to back to give the delegate the option to attend both days and participate in the practical session with minimal disruption to their busy work schedule.
Each course covers its own selection of topics but equally they complement the other to provide an intensive 2 day course. The practical session (22 March) in our laboratories is designed to allow delegates the chance to test their own powders using different characterisation techniques discussed during the courses, or to come along and learn something new, using a selection of our powders.
Course fees: One day £420; Two days £680; All three days £1055
