Bulk solids: Economic engine in the Ruhr industrial area with international reach

Dortmund, Germany, 22.10.2015 - Bulk solids is still a growth factor in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia. While coal extraction was the driver behind the economic fortunes of the Ruhr area in the 19th and 20th centuries – and indeed, all of Germany – the current topic is industrial processes. This takes shape and form at the largest trade show for solids technologies, SOLIDS Dortmund 2015, an event with reverberations extending well beyond the country borders. Of the 450 companies who have signed up to exhibit, 88 are international. The show has become an industrial highlight for the entire region.

On 4th & 5th November 2015, SOLIDS will open its doors at the Westfalenhallen Dortmund to thousands of trade visitors, once again turning the Ruhr region into a centre for process engineering.

"One in every five exhibitors is from outside of Germany, and that is significant," says Daniel Eisele, Event Director for Easyfairs. "41% more international suppliers compared to the previous edition underscores the strength and attractiveness of the Ruhr economic area, one of Europe's largest conurbations and one that is inextricably linked to its industrial roots."

A total of 17 nations will be represented at the show. Exhibitors will present the entire spectrum of machines and components for sieving, filtering, dosing, weighing, measuring, crushing, chilling, heating, milling, mixing, cutting, packing, storage and conveyance of all sorts of bulk goods, ranging from powders through to coarse solids, as well as highly relevant explosion protection, recycling and environmental technologies.

The international companies come from Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Great Britain, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovenia and Spain.

"The Ruhr industrial region is renowned for its openness, innovation and hospitality," says Ullrich Sierau, Lord Mayor of the city of Dortmund. "We are delighted that, over the past few years, SOLIDS has grown into such an important trade show and we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our guests – visitors and exhibitors alike."
