Liquid feeders and new control configuration for wireless LAN connection of metering feeders to automation systems

As examples of liquid feeders Brabender Technologie KG is exhibiting a loss-in-weight liquid feeder as the "classic" high-tech variant and - as an alternative - a liquid feeder equipped with a Coriolis mass flow meter. Both systems are available with different types of dosing pumps. A loss-in-weight feeder offers the advantage of calibration within the closed system, resulting in a higher long-term stability. When applied in combination with solids feeders, the operator does not have to make himself familiar with another functional principle. On the other hand, the principle of metering the throughput by means of a Coriolis flow meter and controlling a dosing pump in dependence on its measured values offers the advantage of being able to achieve heated designs without the immense technical provisions otherwise necessary due to weighing hoppers and flexible connections requiring heating and insulation. Also it is much easier to design solutions for highly viscous liquids that cannot be conveyed unless put under pressure. Both systems are available in explosion-proof versions.

For direct connection of gravimetric and volumetric bulk ingredient metering feeders to automation systems (host, PLC) Brabender has developed a new control configuration. "Intelligent" Brabender metering feeders equipped with the new on-board control and regulation modules ISC Plus provide the basis for a highly flexible choice among a multitude of interfaces (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP, Profibus DP/DPV1, DeviceNet, Modbus RTU) for multiple feeder connection to almost each and every automation system. Special communication modules facilitate an integration in PLC groups like Rockwell ControlLogix and Siemens S7. Such an integration into the automation level does not affect the function and metering accuracy of the feeders so that Brabender can still fully guarantee proper function and accuracy. As a particularity, a wireless version of the system is available. Up to 32 metering feeders can be connected either to automation systems or to the Brabender HMI (human-machine interface) Congrav® OP12 Touch without cabling (except for power supply cables).
