Re: Can Roots Blower Be Used For Bag House Dust Collector
Dear Gautam Dubey,
The picture shows a square hopper that deformed by a (too) low internal pressure.
You did not mention how the internal vacuum is caused.
A vacuum system with a lobe blower as vacuum pump?
A blocked filter hopper inlet and no safety valve and a (PD) lobe blower used as a filter fan?
If this is the case, the bag filter is not properly designed (strength calculation)
A square vacuum hopper with not enough stiffeners and a too thin plate is then asking for problems.
Can someone suggest the possible cause of shrinkage and remedial action to be taken.
Internal too high vacuum which could not be taken by the hopper strength.
Actually, lack of engineering skills. ■

Re: Can Roots Blower Be Used For Bag House Dust Collector
Thank you Teus for your prompt reply.
The internal vaccum is caused by a Twin Lobe Roots blower having vaccum of 7000 mm WG pressure. What should be the minimum thickness of the bag filter casing and hopper?
Any other additional inputs from you for corrective action.

Re: Can Roots Blower Be Used For Bag House Dust Collector
Dear Gautam Dubey,
A square casing and hopper is generally used for close to atmospheric pressures.
If a casing and hopper is used for higher pressure drops, a square casing and hopper must be designed against plate deformation (as shown in your picture) by the combination of plate thickness and stiffeners.
In your case these design calculations are not executed.
A better casing and hopper design is a round shape with sufficient plate thickness, which do not require stiffeners.
This is the work for a structural engineer.
Any pressure tank manufacturer can do this for you according to the applying rules, if you order the tank. ■

Can Roots blower be used for Bag House dust collector
Dear Friends,
We have encountered a one of its kind situation where a bag filter of air capacity 800 CFM made of SS 304 construction encountered a shrinkage on its casing and hopper body
The said bag filter has been connected with a Twin lobe roots blower having pressure of 7000 mm WG. This information was not shared with us during design stage and the dust collector thickness proposed by client was 3 mm. Can someone suggest the possible cause of shrinkage and remedial action to be taken.
Regards,
Gautam Dubey
