Re: Pneumatic Conveying Of Rice Husk With A Vacuum + Pressure S…
Dear Arpit Kumar,
Your design seems simple, but is very complex when it comes to pneumatic conveying.
FAN:
1.The fan has a performance curve, whereby the air mass flow changes with the pressure head
SUCTION:
2.The vacuum determines the mass flow of air by the reduced absolute pressure and the fan curve.
DISCHARGE:
3.The discharge pressure changes with the vacuum and in addition, the mass flow of air changes with the new pressure head.
GO BACK TO 1)
There might be 1 specific condition where the system works, but one small deviation and this system chokes.
Probably you can try to convey the rice husk through a fan without problems.
(Is done in wood dust installations)
Have a nice day ■

Re: Pneumatic Conveying Of Rice Husk With A Vacuum + Pressure S…
Hello
This is my first post. Recently after taking some details from some handbook I designed a fan for pneumatic conveying of rice husk.
Qty of Rice Husk: 5 tonne/hr
Bulk Density: 100-150 kg/m3
Designed at
Head 1300 mm WC
Flow 1800 m3/hour
Pipe Dia 150 mm
The fan sucks the air from top of cyclone and a pipe at tangential entry of cyclone is put into heap of rice husk. Rice husk is thus sucked up and then drops down from the cyclone to a rotary airlock valve. Under the rotary valve is a hopper and the fan blows the air through it to discharge the rice husk
System was designed to suck rice husk from 10 meters and throw it to upto 20 meters.
System is not working very well as frequent choking of pipe especially at suction is occuring
Rotary valve size is around 400 mm diameter and 400 mm length
Also attaching indicative diagram of the whole system
Kindly help
Thanking you
Arpit Kumar

Arpit,
I will be glad to help but I need a flow diagram of the conveying system.

Re: Pneumatic Conveying Of Rice Husk With A Vacuum + Pressure S…
Dear Arpit Kumar,
As Mr. Tuinenburg wrote, be aware of the limits for this type of combined pneumatic over-/underpressure system. What I will further missing is a collecting hopper between cyclone leg and rotary feeder (to prevent re-entrainment of particles).
I have add an article for solving a similar problem.
Don´t hesutite to contact me if you need further help.
Best regards
