i have a problem with the material of sludge conveyor belt i have a competition for my company to supply the belt but government specification for the sludge belt says itis from steelcord belt i think itis not true and the suitable is polyster with nylon

my question is steelcord belt can use for handling sludge or even under special cases and if not what is the best material is the code specification for this

itis handling sludge from 4 decanters through a distance 60 m

Dear Mr. Ahmed Saleh,

in short, the choice between steelcord tension member and textile tension member shall be made based on belt tension, conveyor layout etc. parameters. This has to be calculated / designed by competent engineers, you might find some knowledgeable ones right here in this forum upon some searching. Whereas the selection of the cover material is influenced by the material conveyed, it is the only part which comes in contact with the material (sludge).

As concluding from your post i'd like to request you to once again re-read the governments specification from this angle. Else pls. contact some conveyor design specialist upon a consultancy base. Basic design made, you best contact potential belt suppliers which will swarm to make their offers and support you on that choice. And the very best at last: There then will be a warranty, if all related decisions are duly written down.

Regards

R.

Have you tried querying the company supplying the enquiry?

If your company is comfortable with either option, maybe you could supply a conforming and non conforming bid (and elaborate in your tender why you have offered the non conforming bid)?
