Call for Papers

For the last 30 years, The Powder Coating Institute has become the industry's major trade organization bringing together leading experts in the industry. PCI's experience from presenting thousands of hours of workshops around the country, as well as our partners from manufacturing to consulting, are here to produce a first-class, must-be-at event.

The Powder Coating 2013 Conference & Expo will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, October 8-10. The event attracts over 1600 attendees and provides over 50 hours of presentations, with more than 100 exhibitors.

The Powder Coating 2013 technical conference offers a wide-range of powder coating sessions targeting those just entering the powder coatings world as well as those that are much more experienced. Sessions will cover an introduction to powder coatings, advanced powder coatings, surface preparation, powder application and recovery, system troubleshooting, target markets, benefits of using powder coatings versus other alternatives, and much more.

POWDER COATING 2013 invites industry professionals to share their knowledge through seminar presentations. The topics should relate to your area of expertise and not be commercial in nature.

• Introductory & Advanced Powder Coating Sessions (i.e. Quality Control, Optimization Efficiency, Application)

• Introductory & Advanced Powder Coating (Spanish-speaking)

• Surface Preparation (Pretreatment, Use of Mechanical Pretreatment and Powder, Shot or Sand Blasting, New Technologies –Innovations in Pretreatment)

• Applying Powder Coating – New Technologies, New Techniques

• Oven Curing Options (i.e. Infrared (Gas & Electric), Convection, Field Evaluation of Cure

• Troubleshooting in the Real World, Daily Practices Innovations in Powder Coating (i.e. Powder As a Primer, Applying Multiple Layers of Powder Coatings, Two-Coat Powder Process, High Temperature Coatings, UV Coatings)

• Target Markets (i.e. Architectural, Agricultural & Construction Equipment, Automotive)

• Regulations Affecting Powder Coating System Operators

• Manufacturing Practices (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, Just in Time, Kaizen)

How & When to Submit:

The abstract should clearly state in 200-300 words the objectives, subject matter, and proposed amount of time needed. Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by a Review Committee.

Please submit your abstract by February 15, 2013 by downloading and completing the Call for Papers Form. If preferred, you can also submit a Word document, but it must include all information requested on the form.

Presentations Will Be Evaluated On the Following Criteria:

Presenter's expertise of topic and professional standing in the industry

Content appropriate to audience and conference program needs

Organization of ideas

Timeliness of topic

The technical conference papers are peer reviewed and will be published as part of the Powder Coating 2013 conference proceedings. Additionally, presenting authors are eligible to receive a complimentary full conference registration at Powder Coating 2013 and are invited to attend a Speakers' Briefing and Continental Breakfast on the day they speak, where they will meet with their session moderator as well as with other presenting authors.
