NEW LOW ENERGY POWDER MILLING TECHNOLOGY FOR ABRASIVE COMPOUNDS

On show at the Powder & Bulk Solids India 2012 show will be patented new milling technology that is capable of meeting the fine grinding and particle sizing requirements of abrasive compounds and raw materials.

Engineering design specialist‚ the UK-based International Innovative Technologies has pioneered new technology for the fine grinding of hard minerals and abrasive materials into fine powders - including aluminium oxide and silicon carbide.

Technical advances made by the company have enabled the development of specialist powder processing technology that replaces traditional milling systems with compact, high output, modular units that are both economical to integrate into existing processes and highly versatile in their range of applications.

New vertical milling system by IIT Ltd.

The new vertical milling system combines low energy consumption with a compact size to provide a highly efficient and versatile grinding system for the production of all grades of material – including very fine powders to 5-10 microns.

The new m-series is available as a stand- alone milling plant or can be supplied as part of a complete powder processing solution in combination with the c-series dynamic classifier for fine particle sizing and the s-series of high efficiency cyclones.

The new range of classifiers is specifically designed to tightly control the particle size distribution of fine-grained products and particularly for cut-points in the range of 10–160µm, although dedicated models can also be used for finer material applications.

These robust, high throughput air-stream units can accommodate the requirements of most materials handling and fine powder production applications and are capable of maximising separation efficiency without compromising system energy requirements.

In addition to the fine grinding of hard materials, the low energy performance of the new m series mill has the potential to convert what may currently be regarded as waste material into commercial products for recycling purposes, giving the technology significant ‘green’ credentials. This includes applications in glass and GRP recycling, where the compact size‚ ease of installation and the opportunity to use the mill for localised milling solutions add to the system’s environmental advantages.
