Position of Take-up in Long Conveyor Belt

Dear Experts,

We are experiencing a problem in a new conveyor,

A Yard conveyor with the following configuration has been commissioned few months back.

1.Capacity 5500 TPH,ST1000 ,Width 2200 mm,3.8 mtr/sec,Carrying and return idlers are garland type.

2.Length of conveyor 1000 mtrs,

3.Material -Coal/lime stone,

4.Drive, 900KW motor with delayed action fluid coupling.

5.Equipment in circuit -One Stacker cum reclaimer.

6.Lift at discharge end 10.00 mtrs and lift of reclaimer tripper 11.6 mtrs.

7.Drive at head end, and gravity take up at tail end-tail pulley acts as take pully.Feeding near tail end while stacking.

We are experiencing flapping of return belt and subsequent failure of the return idler holding hooks (EN 8).

Return idler is 2 roller configuration.

Due to the tail take up position, there is hardly any movement of take up while starting and on loading.

There are 2nos of parrellel conveyors and problem is common.

Can any one suggest the possible reason for the failure of the hooks.

Rgds,

Narayanan Nalinakshan.
