I am looking for some guidance/ experience on the use of the CEMA conveyor capacity tables. Specifically I am wanting to knwo if others apply some sort of derate factor to thes values when doing their designs. I don't have a copy of the 6th edition, but I understand that is addressed somewhat in that edition.
I have seen some specs that indicate to design based on only 1/2 of the capacity. That seems pretty conservative, but would appreciate any guidance. For example the one company's internal spec to be used by external engineers says
"Belt Loading capacity shall be 50% at design throughput with a surcharge angle of 20 degrees". Maybe I am not interpretting this spec correctly.
