iBelt: For People who do not fell in love with Belt Scales and Laser Scanners.

indurad has developed a third way to measure flow on conveyor belts. The solution bases on robust radar technology, avoiding the weaknesses of belt scales and laser scanners. Customers along Europe, Australia, India and South America bear testimony how easy, reliable and robust the solution works.

The cutting edge solution provides:

•Contact free sensing: avoiding inaccuracies of belt scales

•Worry free technology for all environmental conditions

•Easy installation: over belt, not in belt installation

•Single easy auto calibration

•Built in analysis functions

•For all kinds of conveyors

indurad’s iBelt is world’s first radar based belt volume scanner, optional with a contact less belt speed measurement tool. The iBelt can be installed above the belt without changing the belt infrastructure. It detects the surface contour of the material on the belt contact free: online and in real time. Together with fixed speed information or speed from the indurad Doppler Velocity Radar (iDVR) it calculates the volume flow. The installation and initial calibration can be done in less than one shift. Recalibration is needed only after belt change.

A webserver runs on the compact sensor, combining setup and maintenance modules with operator interfaces on one platform. Access is as easy as opening a webpage. Cost intensive SCADA integration is avoided, no software installation is required. The iWEB™ interface visualizes all important process data like current volume flow is and a scalable timeline of volume flow. All information can be downloaded to a *.csv file or plotted as a *.pdf for further analysis.

The solution provides all kind of additional interfaces like: 4…20mA, Digital I/O, RS 232, 422, 485, Ethernet and WLAN, Socket TCP/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, Profibus, DeviceNet, CAN-Bus etc.

The iBelt is used around the world for volume flow measurement, mass flow measurement (with density factor). Presently processes use mass for control, as scales have been introduced decades ago. In most cases, the volume flow information is more valuable than mass. Many of indurad’s customers switched from mass to volume as they have now the ability to receive reliable mass flow information. Customers go better with volume, as Stockpile and Silos are limited by volume, not mass.

Density can be calculated by the iBelt™ in combination with an existing belt scale. Even if mass is critical for you, the iBelt™ alarms when belt scales drift. Thus it is an independent crosscheck of data you can build your business on.

Customers describe the Customer Benefits as follows:

•Reliable data (due to precise measurement under all environmental conditions and at all belt conditions)

•Process Control (inventory accuracy, process understanding, statistics)

•Easy Commissioning (no maintenance, single auto-calibration, no cleaning)

•Accuracy (sampling rate 15Hz, contact free measurement, no drift, full contour)

ibelt benefits

The indurad iBelt™ is a solution used in many industries, e.g. material handling, power plants and steel (coal, ore), mining, stone and soil (rock, sand, gravel), paper and pulp (wood chips, cellulose) and the chemical industry (fertilizer, salt).

The application scope is (but not limited to):

•automation of material dispatching

•monitor production and shift performance

•smoothing stockpile shape at changing densities

•monitor material flow between plant and mine, storage area and power plant etc.

•avoid excessive penalties: reduce under or overloading

•adapt belt speed to need: reduce wear and power consumption

•exact mixing process

•mobile crushing plants with very short conveyors and high inclinations

•stationary crushing plants and apron feeders

•installation near transfer points

•loading of ships and trains

indurad has developed a smart solution which will replace drifting belt scales and unreliable laser scanners in many areas, enabling customers to unlock process transparency and hidden potential.
