Windmöller & Hölscher at Interpack

INTERPACK Concludes on a Successful Note

Windmöller & Hölscher satisfied with show; closed several orders

What do the international INTERPACK 2011 trade show and the Eurovision Song Contest have in common? At first glance, nothing. But if you take a closer look, you'll find that they ran simultaneously in Düsseldorf last month. „Monday and Tuesday were the most important days at the show,“ stated W&H CEO, Jürgen Vutz. „It was evident that many INTERPACK visitors came during the second half of the show after the Eurovision was over in order to avoid the crowds.“ The Lengerich-based machinery manufacturer, Windmöller & Hölscher, was located in hall 15 and showed a moveable TOPAS FFS machine, which was designed for the contract packaging market. Also exhibited at the stand was the MATADOR paper sack line from Lengerich-based W&H subsidiary, Garant Maschinen.

W&H had another successful run at the INTERPACK despite a heavy concentration of visitors at the booth during the second week. „We welcomed visitors from all over the world, with a particularly high turn out from Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East,“ reports Peter Steinbeck, Managing Director of W&H. „The show was a success for us; we conducted very productive meetings, the show lines were well received and we were able to finalize some negotiations.“

Signs at the INTERPACK indicated a considerable upturn for the packaging machinery market. Rafael Imberg, Sales Manager of FFS-Systems, said the company is expecting to take on some larger projects in the immediate future. Although the INTERPACK focuses on packaging machinery, for W&H it offered a platform to meet with existing and prospective customers in the flexible packaging industry. „More than 60 of our customers exhibited at the show,“ noted company executives. „W&H offers a wide range of products for the flexible packaging industry. As a result, many discussions crossed over into extrusion, printing and converting.“

Dieter Schallenberg, CEO of Garant Maschinen, was also enthusiastic about the show. „We saw not only a Renaissance of paper carrying bags for retail, but also intense efforts towards the more efficient use of materials, which tied directly into the focus of our exhibit. Using the MATADOR, we demonstrated and proved that paper packaging for french fries uses substantially less raw materials than cardboard packaging.
