The quick answer is yes. You need to talk to the better belt manufacturer's though. In the past I have had very good outcomes with some Contitech belts. It also depends on the temperature. If it is a high heat problem the polymer of choice is usually EPDM and this is very much the realm of the very good belt producers. At the lower end of the scale you can use compounds that contain SBR and it is much easier to create very good wear resistance with SBR so first issue is temperature, then go for quality.

Try Veyance Technology "Solar Shield". A little expense by pays big dividens on power and performance against high temp while having good abrasion resistance.

Try designing a good chute first.
