Not Really.
Tipplers are preferable because they cover the possibillity of a stuck bottom dump mechanism. There are no known other realistic methods of removing dry bulk from a railcar, Why do you seek an alternative? This is an issue for the rolling stock manufacturers. If they provided collapsible front and rear panels then it would be possible to continuously plough off material. That has been suggested before on these forums in relation to breaking out frozen coal in certain inhospitable places. ■

Mobile Grab Or Straddle Backactor
Dear sir - you will not achieve the high rates of unloading as with tippler or bottom discharge, but you might consider something like:
- a mobile grab like the CAT M318D material ahndler fitted with a clamshell bucket (http://www.cat.com/cda/layout?m=308632&x=7)
- a straddle backactor (http://www.morgado.co.za/components/...1772845085.jpg) ■
