Storage and Discharge of Bulk Solids Short Course

Presented by The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology

8 – 9 March 2011

This course deals with the basics in operation, design and specification of hoppers and silos and aims to provide the knowledge to assist in identifying powder handling storage and discharge problems and the techniques which can be employed to overcome them.

The following topics will be covered:

- basics of hopper and silo function

- dealing with potential problems

- determination of hopper geometry for hopper flow

- discharge aids and interfacing to feeders

- feeder design

- practical examples

The course is aimed at Engineers, Managers, Skilled operatives

and maintenance crew or anyone involved in using powders and bulk solid materials. A basic technical education and/or experience in industry is recommended.
