Ceramic valves / ceramic pipe systems

The CERA SYSTEM ceramic flexible hose

For many years, CERA SYSTEM has been developing, manufacturing and selling ceramic valves and ceramic pipe systems in various standards for the conveying of highly abrasive fluids. Several end-users had difficulties installing rigid components into their existing systems. Therefore the development of a ceramic flexible hose can be seen as a logical consequence.

In plant areas where flexibility and quick camlock connections are required, usually rubber hoses are applied. Operators got used to the fact that these hoses had short service times and needed frequent replacement.

The ceramic hoses by CERA SYSTEM consist of ceramic rings which are vulcanized in a special rubber. The ceramic rings are conically shaped in order to prevent abrasion on the rubber joints. The rubber joint itself is less than 1mm long.

In order to reach pressure resistance the rubber hose is made of three layers. This enables us to offer three pressure levels: Vacuum (max 1barg), 6 barg and 10 barg.

To avoid electro-static charge of the medium, anti-static rubber is used and in some cases conductive ceramics can be applied.

For this kind of design small diameter hoses are advantageous. Currently we manufacture sizes DN25 – DN80.

The weight is amazingly low and the flexibility of the ceramic hoses is the same as for normal rubber hoses. The maximum bending radius is less than 10x the diameter.

Service times are in function of the application severity but up to 30 times longer as compared to unprotected rubber hoses. It is thanks to the fact that there is no jointing in the flow direction (lengthwise of the flow direction) that these ceramic hoses have excellent service times.

Patent is pending.
