In a 7 Km long conveyor, material is carried on the top from tail to head end and then, after turning over the belt, different material is carried from head to tail on the return side.

The maximum running tension is 225 KN/m & the maximum starting tension is 275 KN/m.

In such dual-conveying systems should we follow the same thumb-rule for factor of safety i.e. 6.7 and select a ST 1600 belt OR should we consider higher factor of safety ?
