Hello Everybody

Can anybody tell me what is the formula to calculate nip angle of any jaw crusher? At what angle is the toggle seat placed with the moving arm? Is the angle variable according to size or is the same for any jaw crusher? how to calculate the length of the moving arm as well as fix arm. How to determine the eccentricity of shaft?

There are many more questions in my mind but to start with I am putting forth some of them in this forum, I know that this forum is filled with excellent technically capable persons having vast experience who can answer these questions so please help me out in designing a crusher.

Hoping to get my answers soon

Bye TC

I note that you list your company as

Manufacturing of Stone Crushers, Feeders, Vibrating Screens

You are asking for detailed design information most of which I would imagine resides with established manufacturers of crushers.

Why would they pass over their hard won knowledge to a competitor who might put them out of business, and do it for nothing

Yes you are right the designs are with the manufacturers but one needs to always keep on improving to be in the race and this improvement cant be done alone and just sharing general formulae wont put anybody out of business , business is much more than formulas otherwise every scientist would have been BILL GATES ,

Just want to have some conversation, want to share my point of view and receive some good inputs for improving my designs.

Jaw Crusher Nip Angle

Erstellt am 23. Jan. 2011 - 04:40

The jaw, included-subtended two crushing face widest nip angle, is in the range of 26 degrees. Past 30 degrees most gyratory, cone and jaw crushers become inefficient at holding rounder and cubical shaped rock pieces.

The ability to hold the rock vs. let it heave and slide is also dependent on the crusher face geometry (i.e. non-smooth). There are improved face geometries that enhance the grab and hold mechanism. There are other treatments (i.e. materials of construction) that also enhance the grab and hold.

What are your crusher kinematic dimensional controls for the same. Once we se your design, more important comments may be possible.

Crusher design is quite a black art.

I prepared over 400 crusher wear liner drawings for a client, and when you look at them, you wonder how the various shapes and profiles were ever thought up.

On cone crushers, we were called in by a major quarry to help them where the crusher manufacturer could or would not. The quarry (producing road base) was going through a set of liners ever week on their 3 crushers. We did a FaroARM trace of the original liner and then the worn liners were sent to us weekly. We would then trace them with the FaroARM and work out where they were wearing excessively and modify the pattern. The modified liner would then be installed and when worn, it would be returned where we would repeat the whole process. In the end, we were able to extend the life of the liner set by just under 50% which was a considerable saving.

The same for jaw crushers. There are the raw settings, but we were able to get better performance by modifying the profile (x, y and z axis).

As others have said, it would be a rarity for a manufacturer to "share" their research. The whole market is very competitive. On the drawings I prepared, we would not show OEM part numbers or machine manufacturers or model numbers on the drawings we sent out to the foundries. We even went to the extent of deliberately falsifying the material spec (in the name shown on the drawing) so that if it fell into the wrong hands, they would waste time trying to figure things out. Don't worry they did. In one instance, we sent a set of drawings to China for quotation. The directors were due to leave in two weeks to meet up with the foundry. Before they left, we were provided with our very own drawings, with the title block removed, and asked if we could supply them as they sender assured us that they had to fulfil a large order.

There is nothing stopping someone from buying a full crusher and taking it apart to work out how it all works and what the settings are. I seriously doubt it if key technical information would be provided freely however.

Sorry for the delay of thanking you people for responding to my thread,as Mr George Baker said indeed it is the truth what Mr WaiWhite has written.

I have manufactured jaw crusher but still I want to improve on what I have done I would appreciate any help I will get from you people, for that I am ready to answer any questions regarding the design.

Mr Ziggy Gregory I am very much interested in the design of crusher.

Mr Nordell my crusher designs are in .prt format do you want to have a look at them I can send you the attachments.

Crusher Geometry & Performance Enhancements

Please send the 3-D details to my email:

www.nordell@conveyor-dynamics.com

I will take a look and tell you what our modeling can do. The discussion carries no cost.

Based on your design, which must include rock size, shape and strength properties, we can model the breakage. Best to do this with known feed size and product produced, with power and stroke forces. If you do not have stroke, we can tell you. However, we hope to show that your performance can be improved by a design change. The original data can be used to set the crusher calibration. Anyway, the investigation to get to through the calibration level carries no cost.

choose the jaw crusher for you to design is good,i think the jaw crusher is simple to design, see The main jaw crusher spares of jaw crusher include movable jaw plate, fixed jaw plate, lining plate, grid plate, spring seat, adjusting seat, tension rod and so on .
