AVA mixing technology for the conditioning of fly ash

Various bodies, national and European, have defined quality standards for fly ash and regulate their use. The knowledge gained here in relation to technical and economic advantages has in the meantime become an international standard. Major projects demonstrating the quality improvements found in concrete with a high proportion of flue ash are the Eurotunnel and the bridge over the Great Belt in the Baltic Sea, one of the largest worldwide. Both are exposed to aggressive salt water.

The construction companies had to guarantee the clients a service life of 100 to 120 years. Fly ash stops salt water corroding the steel reinforcement in concrete. A precise mix of fly ash and other construction materials is required to comply with the relevant norms.

For 20 years AVA has focussed on the production of mixing equipment for various tasks in this sector. Our first mixer for fly ash conditioning is operating without problems for two decades in a large power station in the Ruhr area. It mixes fly ash and other components with a deviation tolerance of 1%! Since then hundreds of mixers with similar quality standards have been installed at coalfired power stations, cement manufacturing plants and construction companies in numerous countries around the world.
