Grind Sugar Pumping

Posted in: , on 30. Aug. 2010 - 22:09

I try to use transport sugar (powder - after grinding ) very short distance (8 ft hor , 3 ft vertical) . I am interesting to use venturi pump , I like to buy from USA or UK brand ?

My question is any one have a experience in handling grind sugar ? capacity is 1 tonne/hr . My selection is correct ? where is the cheapest , quality product ?

Thanks

Dear uditha,

Are you referring to a venturi-eductor system, where a compressor enters a venturi and the venturi sucks in and mixes the sugar and the mixture is blown to the destination, where a filter receiver separates the sugar from the conveying air?

Or are you referring to a venturi vacuum pump with a vacuum system?

For the distance of 8 ft horizontal & 3 ft vertical your selection is absolutely wrong in my opinion. For 1 tph at these distances I would use a screw conveyor probably you will need a small 4” diameter screw to do the job.

venturi should work, make sure air is dry or consider using a conveying screw for that distance, if designed properly, the screw is the best solution

Dear Mr. Teus

Yes , its venturi - eductor system, final discharging point there is small cyclon separator. one filterbag mount to top side ? bottom we collect sugar ?

concept is right ?

Dear uditha,

Yes, I would say that the concept is right, although the remark of Mantoo makes also sense.

In case of chosing the pneumatic option, pay attention to the remark of Rod

For venturi's look at:
