It depends on the conveyor route and environmental conditions. If the route is straight or curved within the allowable trough belt specifications, it will be the obvious choice. There are caveats to all designs. Let's see your design criterion.

The pipe conveyor will be more costly, consume more power with higher capital and operating expenses unless the route precludes a trough conveyor.
