Speed Of Belt ?
Hi All,
Can you please let me know what is the maximum speed of the belt for a 10 metre small conveyor with a belt width of 450 mm and conveyor inclination angle of 15 degree before materials starting to rolling back? The product is a crushed coal of maximum size of 10 mm and 10% water content.
CEMA book suggests maximum speed of 2.5 to 3.5 m/s for the coal , but this is for a horizontal conveyor not for a inclined one.
Happy to hear your thoughts
Thank you ■
Re: Max Speed Of Belt ?
You wish to have someone spend their time and effort to solve this problem? Since this is an engineering exercise, will you pay for the time? ■

Re: Max Speed Of Belt ?
Alex,
The higher the speed, the more turbulence is created and the longer the material would take to settle. The exact speed at which it rolls back is quite hard to determine (non linear problem). I would say you make as slow as possible and use long skirts to give the material the chance to settle.
