Cost Structure of an Alumina Handing Port

Posted in: , on 23. Mar. 2010 - 19:22

Hello,

I'm building a financial model of an Alumina handling (sea) terminal and have come across the problem of shortage of information about operational expenses incurred by a terminal.

Does anyone have an idea of where to get Financial Statements of an Alumina terminal or its cost structure.

Thank you and have a good day!!!

Paper discusses port pricing structures that enhance ship efficiency. Traditionally, ports use

public infrastructure pricing, which does not take differences in waiting cost into considerations.

We present two alternatives, a two part priority pricing scheme and port slot auctions, as alternative

scheduling and pricing schemes that enhance ship efficiency.

Neither of the links provided bear any relevance ot the original topic. The text reply is quite superficial.

Mr Konstantinov,

A namesake of yours was in charge of my quadruple bypass operation and so I must offer what little information I can.

Alumina loading is not really special. Just a dusty business. At the other end the major consideration is the power for the vacuum unloader which is about 1MW for a fair sized machine. Most of the machines also experience rapid wear on the rotary flap valves. Some machines have a standby valve built into the discharge arrangement to save time in the event of failure during unloading.

Apart from these consideration the cost modeling will be similar to any other bulk terminal which is furnished with a continuous material handling system. Suction unloader manufacturers will give you some idea of what you need.
