Respected All,

i would like to know regarding the handling rate of ship unloader for coal ..... i understand that after my intial reaserch grab unloader there are rated capacity of 1500tph to 2000tph availbale in the current industry( if there are high handling rate pls let me knw). i am working on to determine the quay capacity for 65000 DWT vessel by opting anyone one grab unloaders which is 1500tph or 2000tph, but i dont know the effective handling capacity of these two availble grab unloader. if anybody knows how to calculate the effective capcity of these 2000tph or 1500tph please help me to overcome this problem....... or suggest me for this particular eqpt(1500tph or 2000tph) this will be the effective capacity...... i understood that we need to knw the no of cycles/hr of operationavge capacity of grab, but i still failed to calculate...... please help

Dear Anupama, For Grab type unloaders we take effective cap. generally 60-65% of the rated capacity. For cont. type unloaders we take this fig. as 80-85%.Now a days in India grab cap. 60-65- tonnes are being used. For 65000 dwt cap. you need to have min. 2 grab type unloaders which can give you max. cap 50-60000 tpd.

Formula to calculate these figures is good on papers because lot of things depends upon site condition.
