Crawler Excavator

It would probably be faster to rent a crane for a day to lift it off and block it up, change out the slewing ring then have the crane come back and make second lift to reinstall it.

A lot of it depends on the crawler drive motors and the hydraulic hoses and oil swivels.

Does this unit have a tilt cylinder to allow it to work on slopes with a level platform?

Hi, no theres no levelling cylinder, it would have to be done in my workshop and think the only way i could separate the carraige from the cab would be to jack it up bit by bit and block it up on sleepers as i would have no access for a crane to come in, i have not looked at it yet as its still out on a job but was hoping it could be done in without splitting it.

Excavotor Trouble

I do not see that as a possibility as those little monsters are cut from a single slab of steel. Do you even have room to jack up the platform and pull the crawler out?

Ypu might be lucky and it may simply be the drive gear-can you inspect the drive gear and hydraulic motor through the cabin floor or access it under the automatic transmision?

If you know the gear is bad you would be money ahed to hire a crane for a day or two to split the excavator, replace the drive gear and motor, set the new gear in place and bolt it in place reattach the hydraulic lines and then set the cabin in place.

Is the attachment plate for the superstructure mobile with a bronze bushing or stationary and bolted to the crawler underframe?

Im not sure, i will have to go out and have a look before i think about it any more, the driver told me his slew gear was gone and that is all i have to go on so it could just be the motor and not the actual slew ring i suppose, ill try and have a look some day this week or weekend if i get a chance.
