Please clarify the main aspects in design of drive pulley by answering these questions:
1. Which load case on pulley must be considered as design load for a belt conveyor: Steady operation or starting with fully loaded on its length?
2. Which criterion for designing the shaft of pulley is more important: Fatigue Stress or Stiffness? However it is not clear for me that why stiffness criteria must be checked in shaft as it mentioned in many standards, papers, etc. ■
