Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
hello,
now , i undertook a project to feeder the sugar, salt and gourment powder to scale,
the material characteristic:
powdered sugar:
the feeder capacity: max:600kg/h min: 300kg/h VFD control
the particle diameter: 150um and under
the bulk density: 720kg/m^3
hygroscopic: high
powdered salt:
the feeder capacity: max:400kg/h min: 250kg/h VFD control
the particle diameter: 500um and under
the bulk density: 1290kg/m^3
gourment powder:
the feeder capacity: max:200kg/h min: 50kg/h VFD control
the particle diameter: 150um
the bulk density: 830kg/m^3
the inlet of feeder is connected with a hopper, and the hopper is about 0.6cube meter,
the equipment will be cleaning every 8 hours. including the hopper, feeders, scale , blender,
how can i select the right feeder for the powdered sugar, salt, gourment powder.
thanks

please clarify the foodstuff condition;
Salt is crystalline not powdered, is the sugar a powder dust(confectioners sugar)or granular?
Regarding the feeder, are you packaging in to "consumer sized" portions such as 10 pound bags. tins, bottles, boxes, or salt and sugar packets?
Ingredients for human consumption are transported and packaged using stainless steel equipment.
Units for conveying foodstuffs are easliy obtainble and already proven in use by many food processors and packagers.

About The Sugar, Salt, Gourment Powder
thank you for you reply
the sugar is milled, the feeder is manufactured by stainless steel,
this material is easy to absorb the vapor from the air,
several kind of material will be put into the blender , after blender, there will be packed to bags,
you are right, the salt is crystalline
and also for gourment powder,
i wonder if the screw feeder are good for this three kind of material,
the equipment will be cleaned at 8 hours intervals.

The Brabender feeder is simpler and easier to clean for your application; as I stated previously the engineering work has already been done so you can save your self a lot of time and trouble by contacting Brabender for prices and information. ■
Sugar & Salt Feeders
Dear Sir,
We can help you with your application. It would be best for you to first take a look at our website www.3Sigma.biz. We specialize in providing mass flow feeders which operate with no moving parts.
I've attached a data sheet as well. If you fill this out and return it we can work up a proposal for you.

Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
Sugar will smear and can build up on the screw conveyor flights / casing. It does not matter which brand you select as long as you go for a pig tail type screw with food grade Polymer lined casing you will be OK. As the pig tail twists and bends during rotation any build-up is automatically removed and sugar will not build up on the ploy base materials. ■
Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
thanks all
becasuse of weighing hopper is used, i think the loss in weight is not need for batch dosing,
the sugar ,salt and will be fed into the weighing hopper in 20 minutes, then there will be conveyed to blender,
all eqiupment will be cleaned after 6-7 hours running, so i wanna konw, how long it will take the sugar build up in trough? for hopper to put sugar into it, any idea?

Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
Well if is not very humid in the hopper then Caking of Salt and Sugar can be ruled out in 6-7 hrs. Build up because of smearing action of flight on casing can be a source of build up but if you take into account the advice previously given to you I don't see any build up problems in 6-7 hrs. ■
Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
thank you very much.

Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
the last question,
the pig tail screw is the ribbon flighting?
thanks
■
Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
Pig tail is the one with no centre shaft. ■
Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
I'd describe it more as a stretched out coil spring to look at rather than a centreless screw. ■
Re: Feeder Selection For Sugar & Salt
Both the same "glass half empty or half full?" debate ■
Thanks
thanks all
your opinion is very helpful for selection the feeder.
