Call for Papers



Motivation & Topics:

No minerals – no future!

In order to safeguard tomorrow's supply of minerals a strategy for sustainable management of mineral resources will have to answer the following questions:

  • Which minerals?
  • How much of these?
  • Where do we get them?



Apart from these general issues the practical aspect of mine development will have to consider the issue:

  • How do we get them?



The first thematic area of this Symposium - Mineral Resources (and their management) – addresses the following topics:

  • Identification of critical raw materials
  • Demand and possible supply of critical raw materials
  • Risk management with regard to a secure supply
  • Views, statements and needs of governments, sectors and enterprises
  • Successful policies, strategies and concepts for a safe minerals supply
  • Management of mineral resources



The second thematic area of AIMS 2010 – Mine Development – focuses not only on the physical development of mining projects but also on preparatory and supporting issues:

  • Planning, Organisation, Logistics
  • Financing
  • Operational Experiences (Shaft-sinking, Roadheading, Surface Mine Development)
  • Machine Technology and Equipment
  • Legal Aspects and Permits
  • Environmental Issues



Call for Papers:

The organizing committee invites international experts from industry and research institutions to submit an abstract of their presentation.

Interested contributors are kindly asked to send their abstracts to the symposium secretariat by e-mail, fax or mail.

The abstracts should be up to 300 words and the corresponding author should be clearly indicated.

The Abstract should include following:

•Short summary of the paper

•Title of Paper

•Complete name and title of author

•Position in company

•Complete address of the author including email-contact

Important Deadlines:

Abstracts are to be sent to the symposium secretariat before:

October 5th, 2009

The authors will be notified regarding acceptance of their paper and detailed instructions on paper submission before:

October 19th, 2009

The camera ready manuscripts will be required before:

January 31st, 2010
