GE Energy Facility Receives OSHA Award for Excellence in Safety

Slater, MO.—June 30, 2009 - GE Energy announced today that its production facility in Slater, Mo., has received an award from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) honoring the Slater facility for its outstanding commitment to employee protection. OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) recognizes businesses and work sites that demonstrate exceptional safety, health and environmental practices through the cooperative efforts of employees, management and government.

VPP participants are a select group of facilities that have designed and implemented comprehensive safety, health and environmental programs that go beyond normal compliance with OSHA mandates to protect workers more effectively. VPP is OSHA’s official recognition of the dynamic efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety, health and environmental performance at their facility.

“The OSHA VPP program recognizes excellence in employee safety and health program execution beyond the requirements of OSHA standards,” says Bob Muscat, general manager, GE Energy’s Environmental Services group. "Approval into VPP is OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health, and we are proud of not only how our employees have embraced this initiative, but also the efforts they put forth everyday to ensure a safe workplace. We are thankful to OSHA for recognizing their above-and-beyond attitude and commitment to safety.”
