Area Sales Manager- Material Handling and Dust Control-total compensation potential estimated at $140,000USD per annum

Based in Texas

Due to an internal staff movement, our client seeks an experienced Area Sales Manager with the capability to lead others in a (4) four state territory. Due to further development of this company and its expansion into new markets, this candidate may be offered an opportunity to assume a larger regional sales management role in the company.

This position will be a member of the mid-management team of this business unit. Initially this position will have sales responsibility for all the states of TX, OK, LA and AR

This is a very visible opportunity with well established and profitable engineering services and equipment firm with leading market share in specialty dust control and related material handling products.

This is a well managed and very successful company that has established product groups with excellent market acceptance. This firm has a robust internal product development and research capability with proven successes with several new products for the power generation sector.

Our client has a successful long term track record of profitability and well managed growth. It is expected that the business will grow organically and through acquisition so an important key point for the candidate to understand is our client’s need for a very ambitious and promotable individual, someone that can advance to a Regional Manager position over time.

Do you have?

•Ten (10) or more years of successful sales experience tenure and at least five (5) years of experience managing field sales representatives

•Accountability for delivering your department sales forecast, scheduling and training staff and managing a department budget?

•Have you benefited from the training and development gained in a large engineering services firm and now finds that your opportunities for advancement are diminished?

•Are you be a mid career manager with high potential that is currently at a larger engineering services company or equipment firm where promotion opportunities may be blocked?

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Initiates all sales activities for a four state territory assigned region with profit and loss accountability for same.

•After the completion of a transition period this position will supervise a group of approximately (15) in sales, field service and manufacturing staff

•Develop annual sales plan, specifying target accounts, offensive and defensive sales strategies

•Develop and promote growth in sales by establishing new customer relationships through the use of innovative marketing strategies

•Performs competitive analyses in order to define customer requirements for product features, pricing, customer support, terms and conditions

•Ensure that opportunities and threats are identified, actions are taken and documented and commitments are kept

•Maintain an awareness of industries served with the region; monitor changes within the industries and the market and develop strategies for sales opportunities as the needs of the customers change

•Develop a process to measure customer satisfaction relative to competitors by identifying relevant and quantifiable attributes. Publish reports to internal staff and develop plans based on the results of this information and continuous improvement.

•Provide training and ongoing coaching to sales representatives assigned to this region. Mentors sales and service technical staff in their assigned region

•Manages and prioritizes activities of account management to insure meeting of the customer's needs while protecting the company's position in the marketplace.

•Provides oversight in preparing and submitting proposals, and quotations in response to customer inquiries or contacts.

•Professionally representing the Company at trade shows, conferences, and meetings.

•Continuously evaluating personal performance and implementing improvements where required.

•Ensures that the sales force provides the following in a timely fashion and provides analysis of:

Weekly Summaries

Sales Call Reports

Sales Strategies

Action Plans

Sales Itineraries

•Develop and track annual budgets

•Develop and track quarterly forecasts

•Recruits, selects, hires and trains Sales Representatives as required.

Education Requirement:

•BS Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, MBA degree is desired

Experience Requirement:

•Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive sales responsibility involving capital equipment and engineered products with five (5) years of experience of managing the day to day selling process, motivation of individual field based territory sales representatives

•People leadership experience should include field technical services personnel and management of field capital equipment sales and service teams.

•The experience gained by this individual should be in an organization involved in an engineered product and service.

•Can demonstrate through past employment and or subordinate references that the candidate can work effectively, knowledgeably and collaboratively with a wide range of internal company functions. Strong team-orientation/skills required.

•Preferably the candidate will have experienced the entire sales cycle and installation of a complex, several million dollars sized technical, material handling projects in a fossil fueled utility plant.

Other requirements:

•Proven ability to communicate internally and externally to company management and customers at all levels

•Excellent decision-making, organizational and reporting skills

•It is mandatory that the candidate demonstrate that they are proficient in the use of MS Office software packages (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

•You must have the ability to effectively motivate and train others especially in the area of developing their selling abilities

•A desire to advance in your career and assume greater responsibility

•An openness to possible relocation in the future since other larger opportunities my become available
