Re: Unloading Cement From Bulker

Dear musmusbb,

The type of compressor for a cement bulker depends on the system pressure during pneumatic unloading.

Up to 1 bar a Roots type blower is used and above 1 bar to 2.5 bar, an oil free screw compressor with internal compression is used.

The maximum allowable pressure of the bulker limits the operating pressure.

The conveying pipeline configuration sets the air volume of the compressor.

The system must be equipped with the necessary safety devices.

Sometimes a standard 7 bar plant airscrew compressor of the right volume is used in combination with a pressure regulator set at the operating pressure.

Tapping air from a main system with a sonic choke is also possible.

However, the 2 latter systems are energy inefficient.

best regards

Hi there,

Please look at your data tag of your bulk truck. If you can handle 2 Bar then you can use something like a VML18 electril motor driven dry screw compressor that is usually delivering something like 20m3/min flow. That is usually is enough flow. If it is only 1 Bar like for most North American applications, then you can use a straight lobe blower like the GM25S.

Good luck,
