Can somebody advise , as to how does one calculate FAD requirement of cleaning cartridge type filters in pulse jet system.

Vendor suggests it would be approx 8-10 scfm for a filter cartridge of area approx 16m2. However I need to be sure.

Thanx

Surely an experienced manufacturer will know the requirements of this equipment

Quite: but often, beyond the known world, many punters buy used baghouses which have no supporting information because the original manufacturer is not interested or has gone belly up. This man is working on Vendor suggestion.

What is needed is the reservoir capacity & working pressure before looking for an available compressor & thrashing it into oblivion.

... but he's got the suppliers information, he just doesn't believe it. Maybe he should have bought from from a supplier he does believe, or was that too expensive? If so, that's the problem when buying cheap.

Pulsed Jet

We at Porvair Filtration Group (porvairfiltration.com) make pulsed jet filter systems, but not for bag houses with cloth filters. We make metal filter systems for extreme conditions that cloth can't handle, such as for hundreds of degrees F with corrosive gasses, even up to 1600 deg F. We even make pulsed-jet powder collection and containment systems for radioactive dust and for toxic powders.

For these specialized metal filter systems, generally the pulsed-jet is a sonic pulse lasting perhaps 0.2 seconds, using gas at around 2x the operating pressure. It is not much gas per pulse because it is so brief. All the filters are not pulsed at once.

This really doesn't help with the question asked about pulsed jetting of cloth baghouse filters, but maybe it could stimulate some thoughts or ideas.

By the way, we also supply a filter-like material called "fluidizing media" used for air pads, fluidized hopper bottoms, air slide materials and the like. These can be of metal plate for high temperature and very abrasive situations - called SINTERFLO porous plate, or of a very strong, semi-riged sintered plastic material called VYON porous plastic. Sorry for the commercial digression from Pulsed-Jet, but some may be curious about who we are.

Prabuddha,

Can you please advise your procurement situation because it is not confirmed that your Vendor is the OEM. If your Vendor is in fact the OEM then you must reply on his values or proceed at risk while mindful of the warranty cover provided in the document package.

Your vendor is the one to ask and the one to know.

The figure he gives you should be the maximum usage when the cartridges are near the end of their useful life and the frequency of pulsing has been increased to cope with gradual blinding.

Ask him to clarify this.

Different size cartridge, different structure, so different compressed air requirement.
